Crack down on illegal cattle markets ahead of Eidul Adha



Local authorities have intensified action against illegal animal sale points ahead of Eidul Adha, making several arrests and registering cases against those involved in setting up unauthorised cattle markets.

Officials said an illegal cattle market in Shah Faisal Colony was dismantled, and one person was taken into custody.

Deputy Commissioner Central Taha Saleem also carried out a raid and removed an unauthorised cattle market near Piyala Hotel. He said action was being taken against those responsible, while staff had been deployed at the location to prevent further animal trading activities.

“The cattle market also moved twice from the point earlier,” the deputy commissioner said.

DC Korangi Masood Bhutto said several illegal cattle markets had also been removed from Makhdoom Society A-3 subdivision in Korangi and from Korangi No. 5 near the bridge.

“The animal markets at Nasir Jump, New Town police station, 16000 road Chakra Goth, Punjab Ground Shah Faisal and Reta Plot”.

Meanwhile, DC Keamari, Ameer Afzal Awaisi, said illegal cattle markets had been cleared from the Mauripur Truck Stand.

“The animal markets were causing hurdles in the traffic to and from Hawkes Bay,” the official said.

Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi said these unauthorised cattle markets were creating sanitation issues and causing difficulties for residents due to traffic congestion.

He added that district administrations, with the support of police, had launched a crackdown against illegal animal markets across the city.
