The city administration has launched a large-scale crackdown against illegal cattle markets established across Karachi ahead of Eidul Azha, on the instructions of Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi.

According to officials, scores of arrests have been made and cases registered against individuals involved in setting up unauthorized animal sale points across the metropolis.

Authorities said an illegal cattle market in Shah Faisal Colony was removed and one person was arrested during the operation.

Deputy Commissioner Central Taha Saleem said a cattle market at Piyala Hotel was also cleared during a raid, adding that personnel had been deployed at the site to prevent the resumption of illegal trading activities.

DC Central further stated that the site had been cleared multiple times earlier but continued enforcement action was being taken to ensure compliance.

In Karachi Korangi district, DC Masood Bhutto said several illegal cattle markets, including those in Makhdoom Society, Korangi No. 5, Nasir Jump, New Town, Chakra Goth, Shah Faisal, and Reta Plot, had been removed.

Meanwhile, DC Keamari Ameer Afzal Awaisi said illegal animal markets at Mauripur truck stand were also cleared, noting that such setups were causing traffic disruption on routes leading to Hawkes Bay.
