Hesson calls for stronger middle-order batting ahead of ODI World Cup preparations

Pakistan white-ball head coach Mike Hesson has underlined the importance of improving Pakistan’s batting approach during the middle overs in One-Day Internationals as preparations continue for the upcoming World Cup.

Speaking during a podcast appearance, Hesson said the team management is focused on building the most competitive ODI combination over the next year and a half. He explained that the recently held white-ball training camp helped the coaching staff closely evaluate several emerging cricketers.

The New Zealand-born coach acknowledged the potential of young players but stated that their growth would require time, patience, and consistent backing. He emphasized that providing opportunities to youngsters remains a key part of Pakistan’s long-term planning.

Hesson further pointed to the need for early breakthroughs with the ball, improved consistency in bowling performances, and higher fitness standards to strengthen the team’s overall results.

Discussing the upcoming ODI series against Australia, he described the contest as an important platform for young players to prove themselves against top-quality opposition. He also encouraged supporters to continue backing the national side and its developing talent, praising Pakistani fans for their passion and unwavering support.
