THATTA – A wave of joy and excitement has swept across Pakistan following the arrival of His Highness Prince Rahim Aga Khan on his first official visit to the country as the 50th Spiritual Leader of the Shia Ismaili Muslim community. In Sindh, like many other parts of the country, the Ismaili community is celebrating the historic occasion with great enthusiasm and traditional fervour. Jamat Khanas, the community’s religious and social centers have been beautifully decorated with colourful lights, banners, and flags to express devotion and reverence for their spiritual leader. Special cultural programs, musical evenings, and formal ceremonies have also been organized in various districts of Sindh to welcome and commemorate the visit.
Members of the community say the celebrations reflect the deep spiritual bond they share with their Imam. Volunteers and organizers have remained actively engaged in making arrangements so that community members can participate in the events smoothly during the Imam’s stay in Pakistan. Anwar Ali, a senior community leader from Sujawal, said that during this visit the Spiritual Leader is expected to meet followers in the Northern regions of the country and preside over major religious gatherings there. “We hope that His Highness will soon visit Sindh and Punjab as well, so followers residing here may also receive the honour of meeting their Imam,” he stated. Another member of the community remarked that festivities and religious activities would continue throughout the duration of the visit. He added that community volunteers have been working tirelessly day-and-night to facilitate participants and manage arrangements for the celebrations. Speaking about the teachings and guidance of their spiritual leader, Nabeel, a young member of the community, said that their Imam has consistently emphasized unity, compassion, discipline, and adherence to the ethical principles of Islam. “Our Spiritual Leader always teaches us to remain loyal to our homeland, Pakistan, and to contribute positively toward its development and prosperity,” Nabeel said. “He also encourages the community to help the underprivileged and extend generosity and kindness to those in need.” It is pertinent to mention that Prince Rahim Aga Khan shares a longstanding and historic relationship with Pakistan. His father, grandfather, and great-grandfather all played significant roles in supporting the country’s development and progress, while maintaining a close bond with the people of Pakistan over generations.
