KP govt toughens stance against drug trafficking: minister


PESHAWAR  –   Dr Am­jad Ali on Saturday said the KP govern­ment had introduced stricter legislation to curb drug trafficking and strengthen action against narcotics-related crimes. He said punishments and fines for those involved in the drug trade had been sig­nificantly enhanced under the new legis­lation to discourage narcotics trafficking across the province.

The minister said directives had also been issued to police officials in his constituency to adopt a zero-tolerance policy towards individuals involved in the sale and distribution of drugs.

Dr Amjad Ali made the remarks while addressing an anti-drug pro­test demonstration at Barikot Bazaar in Swat, attended by political workers, social figures, public representatives.
