SOFIA – Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev and Moldovan President Maia Sandu have held a phone call in which Sandu congratulated Radev on Progressive Bulgaria’s decisive victory in the parliamentary elections, the Government Information Service said on Saturday. During the conversation, both sides expressed a commitment to further deepening bilateral cooperation in areas such as the economy, investment, energy, education, and culture. Following Progressive Bulgaria’s victory in the snap early parliamentary election on April 19, the Radev Cabinet was sworn in before the National Assembly on May 8. Radev reaffirmed Bulgaria’s principled and consistent support for Moldova’s European integration based on merit and highlighted the country’s progress on its path toward EU membership.
He also stressed the importance of the Bulgarian national minority in Moldova as a key bridge for strengthening bilateral relations.
Sandu called for more joint initiatives to promote Bulgarian culture in Moldova, while Radev emphasized the need for increased investment in the development of the Taraclia District and for supporting members of the Bulgarian community in accessing and implementing EU programmes and projects.
In February, the ambassadors of Bulgaria and the European Union to Moldova, Maya Dobreva and Iwona Piorko, discussed European integration and regional development during a visit to Taraclia.
