Crackdown on overcharging, overloading intensified ahead of Eid

Dera ismail khan  –  On the directives of the Secretary, Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Dera, Shoaib Iqbal, the RTA and district administration have intensified joint operations to ensure safe, comfortable and standard travel facilities for passengers during Eid-ul-Azha.

As part of the campaign, strict checking was carried out at various bus terminals and on different routes against overcharging, overloading and carrying extra passengers.

Secretary RTA Shoaib Iqbal and Assistant Commissioner Kulachi personally visited the RTA complaint cell, where they reviewed passengers’ complaints and ordered immediate action on the spot.

During the inspections, officials also interviewed passengers travelling in public transport vehicles to assess transport conditions and ensure implementation of officially approved fare lists, which were displayed inside vehicles for passengers’ convenience.

The authorities directed transporters to refund excess fares charged from passengers, while fines were imposed on those found violating transport regulations.

Meanwhile, inspections were also conducted at the General Bus Stand and other transport terminals to review the availability of basic facilities, including washrooms, waiting areas, mosques, clean drinking water and sanitation arrangements.

The relevant staff were directed to provide maximum facilities to passengers during the Eid holidays and maintain cleanliness and service standards at transport terminals.

The district administration and RTA officials reiterated that indiscriminate action against overcharging, overloading and carrying extra passengers would continue in order to provide relief and convenience to the public during the festive season.
