
Peshawar – Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sohail Afridi, visited Lower Chitral, where he joined Faisal Karim Kundi and other political and government dignitaries in welcoming Prince Rahim Aga Khan on his arrival in the district.
In a meeting held following the arrival, the two sides discussed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s development priorities, investment opportunities and ongoing initiatives in key sectors, including health, education, tourism and socio-economic development.
Speaking to the media persons following his meeting with Prince Rahim Aga Khan, the Chief Minister said that the primary purpose of his brief visit was to welcome the distinguished guest to the province. He noted that the meeting provided an opportunity for a constructive exchange on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s investment potential, the provincial government’s development agenda and ongoing efforts aimed at improving public welfare and economic growth.
The Chief Minister acknowledged the longstanding contributions of the Aga Khan Development Network, particularly in the northern regions and Chitral, where its initiatives in healthcare, education, community development and social welfare have had a transformative impact on local communities. He further stated that discussions also covered the proposed establishment of Aga Khan University and Aga Khan Hospital facilities in Peshawar.
Prince Rahim Aga Khan expressed keen interest in exploring investment opportunities across various sectors in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and reaffirmed his commitment to continued collaboration for the province’s sustainable development.
Sohail Afridi reiterated that the provincial government remains fully committed to advancing world-class education and healthcare services, facilitating investment and promoting inclusive and sustainable development across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He emphasised that all available resources were being mobilised to translate this vision into tangible outcomes for the people of the province.
The reception was also attended by Suraiya Bibi, the Commissioner of Malakand Division, the Regional Police Officer Malakand, the Deputy Commissioner of Lower Chitral and other senior political and administrative officials.
