
Peshawar – A weekly video-link review meeting on governance affairs was held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shahab Ali Shah, with senior officials from relevant departments in attendance.
The meeting reviewed in detail the arrangements and cleanliness campaign for Eid-ul-Azha. Participants were informed that all preparations for Eid-ul-Azha had been finalized, while it was also decided to rank districts on the basis of sanitation performance during the Eid days.
Officials said that the performance of districts would be regularly monitored during Eid-ul-Azha and rankings would be prepared accordingly. The provincial government has already issued necessary directives in this regard.
During a briefing on anti-encroachment operations, the meeting was informed that 104 kanals of state land had been retrieved across the province during the past week. Similarly, the Irrigation Department is continuing operations to remove encroachments and obstructions from waterways and ensure cleaning activities, particularly through a special campaign in mountainous areas.
The meeting was also informed that the recruitment process for nearly 2,500 healthcare workers on a contract basis to address shortages in various districts has reached its final stages. A seven-day period has been allocated for the resolution of complaints, after which appointment orders will be issued. The recruitment includes medical officers, nurses, and dental surgeons. Officials stated that the initiative aims to overcome shortages of medical staff in remote areas of the province and improve healthcare services.
The meeting also reviewed the ongoing process of outsourcing 72 hospitals in two phases under the Health Department. Officials said the initiative is aimed at improving services in underperforming hospitals.
The Chief Secretary was further briefed on awareness campaigns and preventive measures to curb incidents of forest fires. The meeting was informed that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has intensified actions against the timber mafia, while all related matters are being monitored through a digital dashboard.
