National Savings increases profit rates on key investment schemes

National Savings has increased profit rates for various investment schemes across the country, with overall revisions ranging between 1% and 2.20%, effective from May 26.

The revised rates are expected to benefit investors seeking stable and low-risk fixed-income opportunities, as National Savings schemes continue to remain a popular choice among savers in Pakistan.

According to details, the government has upwardly revised yields on multiple instruments. Under the new structure, Special Savings Schemes now offer a profit rate of 11.6%, while Regular Income Certificates stand at 11.82%.

However, the profit rate for Behbood and Pensioner Schemes has been kept unchanged at 12%.

Earlier, the government had also revised returns on Behbood Savings Certificates for investments up to Rs200,000, setting a profit rate of 12.96% for that category.

Based on the revised rates, an investment of Rs100,000 is estimated to generate around Rs1,080 per month, while an investment of Rs200,000 is expected to yield approximately Rs2,160 per month.

The Central Directorate of National Savings (CDNS) also confirmed that while rates for several schemes have been revised, the profit rate for Behbood Savings Certificates has been maintained, ensuring continued support for widows, senior citizens and disabled persons.

The federal government has maintained the 12% rate for Behbood Certificates, under which investors receive monthly profit payments from the date of purchase.
