ISLAMABAD  –  Pakistan is expected to hold consultations with key Arab allies, including Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states for taking a unified stance, following recent remarks by US President Donald Trump urging several Muslim-majority countries to join the Abraham Accords framework with Israel, diplomatic sources said on Monday.

The development comes after President Trump, in a post on his Truth Social platform, linked ongoing negotiations with Iran to a broader regional normalization initiative, calling on countries including Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Qatar, Türkiye, Egypt and Jordan to “simultaneously” sign onto the Abraham Accords.

According to diplomatic circles, Islamabad is closely reviewing the evolving regional situation and is likely to coordinate its position with friendly Arab countries, particularly Saudi Arabia, amid rapidly changing geopolitical dynamics in the Middle East.

Sources said Pakistan views the issue as highly sensitive and tied to wider regional stability, the Palestinian question, and the outcome of ongoing diplomatic engagements involving Iran and the United States.

In his statement, President Trump said negotiations with Iran were “proceeding nicely” and suggested that expanding the Abraham Accords could become part of a broader regional peace arrangement.

He also claimed to have discussed the matter with several regional leaders, including Pakistan’s Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and leaders from Qatar, Egypt, Jordan, the UAE and Bahrain.

The Abraham Accords, brokered during President Trump’s first term in 2020, led to the normalization of relations between Israel and several Arab states, including the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain.

However, Saudi Arabia has consistently maintained that formal normalization with Israel would depend on meaningful progress toward the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

Analysts believe Trump’s latest proposal reflects Washington’s attempt to reshape the regional diplomatic architecture following recent tensions involving Iran, while also reviving momentum behind the Abraham Accords framework.
