BUCHAREST – The Embassy of Pakistan in Bucharest inaugurated a photographic exhibition titled “Pakistan: Pages of a Story” at the Buzau County Museum of Romania, depicting the splendid architecture, beautiful landscapes, exciting festivals, and eye-catching individuals of Pakistan. The exhibition, opened on the occasion of the “European Night of Museums”, will run for the next four weeks. As the exhibition coincides with the 500th anniversary of the establishment of the Mughal Empire in South Asia, a significant number of pictures focus on Mughal-era buildings including Badshahi Mosque, Shalimar Garden, Wazir Khan Mosque, Mausoleum of Emperor Jahangir, Hiran Minar and Chauburji. A photographer from Lahore, Yasir Nisar, contributed half of the displayed pictures at the exhibition which also includes the work of 18 students of photography from the Institute of Communication Studies, University of the Punjab, and School of Creative Arts, University of Lahore. The students include Mahnoor Ashraf Watoo, Malaika Rauf, Afan Asad, Muhammad Hassan, Noreen Asim, Agha Fahad Ali, Arman Nadeem, Tehreem Fatima, Shaneela, Toqeer Nasir, Asad Ali, Zoha Ishtiaq, Muhammad Ahmad, Ume Habiba, Momin Ali, Mehreen Fareed, Laiba Umer, and Ahmad Jamil. The exhibition was inaugurated by Ambassador of Pakistan to Romania Ilyas Mehood Nizami, and General Manager of Buzau County Museum Daniel Bolocan. Addressing the inauguration ceremony, Ambassador Ilyas Nizami highlighted the key features of the displayed pictures and paid rich tribute to the Mughal Kings and Emperors who left indelible marks on administration, culture, architecture, art and cuisine of South Asia. He thanked all the contributing photographers as well as the management of the Buzau County Museum for their cooperation. He said that cultural exchanges and people-to-people contacts constituted an important facet of Pakistan-Romania relations. He further said that the exhibition was yet another step towards advancement of friendship between Pakistan and Romania through culture, heritage and human experience. The exhibition was visited by hundreds of people on its first day and is expected to attract a large number of visitors during the coming weeks.
