PFF XI beat UN XI 3-1 in World Football Day exhibition match



LAHORE  –  Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) XI defeated United Nations (UN) XI 3-1 in an entertaining exhibition match held at Jinnah Stadium, Islamabad, to celebrate World Football Day.

The special event, organised by the Pakistan Football Federation, brought together diplomats, football officials, former players and international representatives in a celebration aimed at promoting peace, unity and friendship through the universal language of football. A lively crowd witnessed an exciting contest in which PFF XI controlled proceedings with attacking football and disciplined teamwork. Shahzeb emerged as the standout performer by scoring twice, while former Pakistan captain Essa Khan added another goal to secure a convincing victory for the home side. Nnu Gibson scored the lone goal for the UN XI.

The occasion was graced by several distinguished personalities, including United Nations Pakistan Resident Coordinator Mohamed Yahya, diplomats from France, Romania, Nigeria and Zimbabwe, PFF President Syed Mohsin Gilani, Pakistan national football team head coach Nolberto Solano and former Pakistan captain Essa Khan.

Speaking on the occasion, Mohamed Yahya praised Pakistan’s football potential and reaffirmed the United Nations’ support for the promotion and development of the sport in the country. He said football has the power to connect communities and inspire young people across the world.

PFF President Syed Mohsin Gilani said football was rapidly growing in Pakistan and emphasised the federation’s commitment to creating greater opportunities for young players while expanding the game to all parts of the country.

The World Football Day celebrations concluded with a strong message of harmony and inclusion, highlighting the role of sports as a powerful platform for promoting peace, cultural understanding and global solidarity beyond borders.
