Sahibzada Farhan headlines star-studded pre-signings for LPL 2026

LAHORE  –  Pakistan’s rising T20 sensation Sahibzada Farhan has emerged as one of the most high-profile overseas signings for the sixth edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL), with franchises unveiling an exciting list of pre-signed players ahead of the tournament scheduled from July 17 to August 18 in Sri Lanka.

Farhan, who enjoyed a remarkable ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 campaign, has been snapped up by Dambulla Sixers after finishing among the tournament’s leading batters. The aggressive right-hander amassed a record 383 runs in seven matches, including two centuries and two half-centuries, establishing himself as one of the most dangerous performers in the shortest format. The Dambulla franchise has further strengthened its core with the inclusion of experienced South African opener Reeza Hendricks alongside Sri Lankan stars Dinesh Chandimal and pace spearhead Dushmantha Chameera, forming a balanced and formidable combination for the upcoming season.

Four-time champions Jaffna Kings have also assembled a powerful squad, securing Bangladesh veteran Shakib Al Hasan and fast bowler Taskin Ahmed as their overseas signings. The franchise will once again rely heavily on Sri Lankan stars Bhanuka Rajapaksa and promising all-rounder Dunith Wellalage to maintain their dominance in the competition.

Kandy Royals, champions of the 2023 edition, have put together one of the tournament’s strongest line-ups with Sri Lanka captain Wanindu Hasaranga, England all-rounder Moeen Ali and veteran Angelo Mathews forming the backbone of the side. Indian all-rounder Vijay Shankar has also joined the Royals, adding valuable international and Indian Premier League experience to the squad. His versatility with both bat and ball is expected to provide crucial balance in pressure situations. Meanwhile, Colombo Kaps have made a major statement by signing New Zealand all-rounder Jimmy Neesham and explosive Australian batter Ben McDermott. The pair will complement Sri Lankan batting stars Kusal Mendis and Kamindu Mendis, significantly boosting Colombo’s batting firepower and overall depth.

Galle Gallants have retained an experienced core featuring Sri Lankan all-rounder Dasun Shanaka, emerging pacer Eshan Malinga and dependable South African batter Rassie van der Dussen. The remaining squads will be finalised during the official LPL 2026 Player Draft, scheduled to take place on June 1 in Colombo.

The sixth edition of the Lanka Premier League will feature 20 league-stage matches followed by the Qualifiers, Eliminator and Final across Colombo, Pallekele and Dambulla, as Sri Lanka prepares to host another highly competitive season of franchise cricket.
